Brief Introduction£º
Following the International Puppet Festival in Quanzhou,
this program introduces the many types of puppets,
puppet performers, and puppet-making techniques
of the past thousand years. This program spans from
the puppet hobbies of Chinese emperors and noblemen
to the rising tradition of puppet folk art. The
show covers both the famous poems and articles written
by ancient literati, and the entertaining art of
puppet performance. The delicate techniques used
by puppet-makers are detailed in the show and followed
by exquisite acting on the puppet stage. You will
fully appreciate the infinite range of expression
displayed by these tiny puppets, and may even compare
them to the esteemed actors in Beijing operas, or
even to the gods, tigers, and dogs they portray.
