Brief Introduction£º
The broad territory and many ethnic minority groups
that make-up China contribute to the country's diverse
collection of Chinese folk songs. In China¡¯s northwest,
folk songs are bold and full of masculine power.
Folk songs from south of the Yangtze River are exquisitely
sweet and full of emotion. Mongolian and Xinjiang
folk songs come from the grasslands and the broad
desert, so they hold the western customs left by
traders on the ancient Silk Road.
By introducing different folksongs from the northwest,
southwest, northeast and south of the Yangtze River,
this program spans traditions from across China.
The variety of folk songs from this segment are
characterized by their unique rhymes and the folk
customs attached to their ancient melodies.
