China Archeological Secrets
¡¶A Palace in a Cave¡·

Brief Introduction£º
¡¡ Jade is known for its purity, translucence and gleam. It has always been a popular item for gifts and family heirlooms. However, polishing jade to perfection takes both labor and skill. In the Stone Age, people in Liang Zhu used jade for god worship; people in Hong Shan carved jade into dragons.
¡¡ During the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, jade came to symbolize virtue, and wearing jade became a custom. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, people began including jade in graves, in the hopes of preserving the bodies. But, the jade-and-gold dress uncovered in a Han tomb did not prevent its owner from decomposing. What it did accomplish is the survival of the craftsmen's superb creation.
