Acrobatics is one of Chinese
ancient art performances. Acrobatic performance
is a folk tradition in many places of China. And
acrobats should start with their exercise at very
early age.
In order to combine ballet with acrobatics, The
dancers Wu Zhengdan and Wei Baohua performed Changeing
into Butterflies in the CCTV Spring Festival Party
on the New Year¡¯s even of 2002. Changeing into Butterflies
was a famous love story in China. A couple of lovers
could not get married because of the strong opposition
from the family. In order to keep their love, they
killed themselves together and eventually changed
into two beautiful butterflies.
How amazing the performance is! Is it ballet or
acrobatics?
To some degree, Changing into Butterflies was the
revision of Oriental Swans. Again, they won the
highest honor in China for their wonderful performance.
