This documentary is an attempt
to manifest the great changes that Chinese music
experienced in the open era of multicultural clashes
from the shooting angle of a zitherist¡¯s experiences
in exceeding the limitation of music styles. Wang
Yong is just the zitherist. In the attempts of finding
new musical styles, he and other musicians continuously
encourage and support each other, which really show
their determination to broaden horizons and break
shackles in the world of music. This is an open
mental attitude which also reflects China¡¯s opening-up.
At the same time, the documentary will end with
the puzzle facing the new generation of Chinese
musicians represented by Wang Yong. That is, when
they pursue freedom of arts, they can¡¯t get enough
public support and their revolutionary attempts
are full of frustrations and uncertainties.
