Brief Introduction £º
¡° To the South Pole¡±, the 12 series
documentary produced by the Viewpoint Communication
Co. Ltd. (Affiliated with the State Council Information
Office) and National Bureau of Oceanography Expedition
to the South Pole Office jointly, it reports the
2000¡¯ trip to the South Pole by six famous literati.
The six Chinese scholars spent 58 days which they
will never forget in that white continent. They
experienced the communication between people and
the Nature and felt the meaning of life. During
that 58 days without night, they suffered the snowstorm
under the hole of the ozonosphere, stayed together
with penguins and jaegers day and night and encountered
seals. They visited every investigative station
in the King George Island and welcomed strangers
from all over the world. They explored the iceburg?
of thousands of years, lived the harsh outdoor life
and listened to the sounds of heaven by hearts.
They worked, wrote, thought, discussed and debated,
they laughed and they cried.
In order to track the real and complete adventure,
the photographers followed the entire trip and their
job was full of difficulties: they had to use helicopter
several times, had to wait long time in blizzards,
sometimes even in danger, but they tried to capture
every wonderful moment.
It is the mysterious and exciting thinking, it is
a precious historic record.
