This brother and his
little sister are in black clothes, A'wen and A'jin
are living in the Dashishang district at the frontier
of the southwest Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In the remote, high mountains they still able to
keep their unique customs and culture. Their traditional
clothes are considered beautiful in black and praised
as the "living fossils" of the Zhuang
traditional clothing. The folk songs they sing are
called "Gaoqiangdiao." Their voices are
high and resonant, as if they came from paradise.
However, in the summer of 2002, a highway along
the frontiers reached their home. Now their lives
are beginning to change.
