Mount E Mei, in Sichuan Province, is one of the four most famous Buddhist mountains, with a continuous range length spanning 23 kilometers, and an area of 115 square kilometers. It is famous for its graceful landscape, unusual geography, abundant animal life, plant resources, and historic Buddhist culture. Other names for Mount E Mei include "Celestial Mountain and Buddhist Country", "Plant Kingdom", "Animal Paradise", and "Geographical Museum." The mountain is often praised as the most beautiful mountain in the world. On December 6th, 1996, Mount E Mei was put on the World Natural and Cultural Heritage list by the United Nations.
