    大昭寺位于西藏拉萨老城区的中心，因供奉唐朝文成公主带到吐蕃的觉卧佛像（释迦牟尼12岁时等身像）而得名，是举行“金瓶掣签”仪式以及达赖、班禅受戒仪式等重大佛事活动的地方，供奉有松赞干布和文成公主的塑像，在西藏人心目中的地位无比崇高。大昭寺是西藏现存最辉煌的吐蕃时期建筑，也是西藏最早的土木结构建筑，开创了藏式平川式的寺庙布局规式。
