The Lisu New Year Eve
falls on December 19 of the solar calendar. After
a lavish New Year dinner, people in pretty new dresses
come out and gather on the square. The veteran singer
leads the people to sing the New Year Song and gradually
people are divided into two groups to exchange songs
and dances. The primitive symphony are deeply rooted
in the Lisu people's daily life and singing seems
to be the only way for expressing personal feelings,
communication and story telling. On the last day
of the New Year Holiday people go to sing near the
Denggen hot spring. The steam of the hot spring
goes up together with the pretty songs, forming
beautiful scenery that can only be seen in the fairyland.
Besides the Lisu music the wedding customs and other
interesting traditions, living style of the Lisu
people will also be addressed.
