The Shoushan stone-carved Olympic licensed product debuts in Beijing
(BEIJIGN, December 12) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and the government of Fujian Province jointly unveiled an Olympic licensed product made of Shoushan stone from Shoushan, Fujian on Monday.
The item features carved peony flowers, popularly regarded as China's national flower. Artists see the work precious partly because of its noble material -- Shoushan stone. Shoushan stone carving art dates back some 15 centuries ago.
The product, the first of a series of "Olympic fine products" made of Shoushan stone, has a limited circulation of 2008.
