BOCOG Volunteer Department Director Liu Jian issues a name-plate to a volunteer training base for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.
(BEIJING, November 11) -- A theme campaign was held in Beijing on Sunday to promote volunteer services for the Beijing Paralympic Games. The campaign celebrated the occasion of the 300-day countdown to the Games, which will open on September 6, 2008.
Amid the songs "Smiling Beijing" and "Come and Join Us," the officials in charge of the volunteer work for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics issued textbooks to volunteers in various forms and awarded name plates to the volunteer training bases for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. Representatives of Paralympic athletes and volunteer applicants addressed the meeting, expressing their wishes to serve the Paralympics and to take care of the persons with a disability whole-heartedly.

The activity was sponsored by the office of the Volunteer Work Coordination Group for Beijing Olympic Games, the BOCOG Volunteer Department, and the China Disabled Persons' Federation. BOCOG Volunteer Department Director Liu Jian attended the gathering of over 100 people.
Some volunteers also attended an on-site lecture on sign language.
