(BEIJING, October 12) -- On the occasion of the 300-day countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games, the Volunteer Work Coordination Group for the Beijing Olympic Games and the Volunteer Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) officially released five songs to promote Olympic volunteerism.
The songs are: Smiling Beijing; I Am a Star; Let's Take Part in It; Shall We Go Together; the Youth's Olympics.
The songs were chosen from the best entries to a campaign to seek songs for the volunteers of the Beijing Olympics. Some of the composers are famous musicians, and the others are ordinary volunteers. Some of them are elder people and the others are still college students. The works commonly praise the voluntary services and encourage passion for the Olympics.
To make it easier to listen to the songs, the BOCOG Volunteer Department, the Official website of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games (www.beijing2008.cn,) the website of Sohu Company (www.sohu.com,) and the website of Beijing Volunteer Association (www.bv2008.cn) jointly launched the broadcast of the songs. Meanwhile they and the China Mobile launched a download program ((bj.12530.com) for users of China Mobile to choose their favorite songs to make their hand-phone ring signals. In addition, a disc of the best songs of the campaign, including the aforesaid five, produced by the BOCOG Volunteer and Culture Departments, will be released free of charge to Beijing's colleges and districts and counties.
