Beijing Under My Pen - Beijing News Award Contest Entry

To honor the reporting on the Games of the XXIX Olympiad by international news media - at a time when the Beijing Olympic Games are drawing near - the Beijing Olympic Media Centre is honored to present this solicitation for entries for the 3rd Annual Beijing Under My Pen - Beijing News Award.

Since its establishment in 2004, "Beijing Under My Pen - Beijing News Award" has been an important journalism award in China, honoring the works of the international news media covering the Olympic City of Beijing and preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games.

Submission Deadline: November 15, 2007

Goal: To honor pre-Olympic reporting by international news media, provide a platform to showcase the works of the global media here in Beijing and to attract more media coverage of the Olympic City and the forthcoming Olympic Games.

Award Submission: All news work relating to Beijing and the preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games in the form of messages, TV programs, photography or radio programs published or broadcast on media outside of China - including newspapers, magazines, TV and radio - between January 1, 2006 and October 30, 2007 is eligible for this award.

Prizes: There will be three first place, five second and 10 third place winners in the following categories:

-- Best Messages

-- TV Coverage

-- News Photography

-- News Commentary

-- Broadcast News

There will also be Special Report Award which will honor the best in Serial Reporting; Most Influential Author and an Award for Special Reporting of Important Activities.

Winners will receive a trophy and certificate from the Beijing Olympic Media Center.

Format: All entries must originate from correspondents or reporters from international media outlets including news agencies; newspapers; periodicals; broadcasters and television stations. We encourage the submission of work in its original form and as a photocopy - as original work will not be returned. TV submissions are encouraged to be presented in compressed .avi format and on a CD/DVD.

There are no restrictions on the number of stories which maybe submitted - either individually or by groups. All winning materials will be compiled into a volume by the sponsor and each winner will receive one complementary copy at the awards ceremony - with specific date and location to be announced shortly.
